Preparing Now for the Maybe Someday

I was listening to JR Vassar preach on being a godly man in the home from a conference he spoke at a few years ago. It was really inspiring, but it also re-lit a little restlessness.

The purpose for marriage is to put the Gospel on display. I'd like that someday in my life. I would love to be blessed with a relationship that showed the goodness of God. Marriage is a parable. A living, breathing parable.

The relationship of a man leading a woman in a covenant relationship is the image of Christ leading the Church. Mutual, self-sacrificing submission for one another.

Someday, I would love to have people look at my relationship with my bride, and have people say, "So that's what it means for Christ to love the church."

I would love for my life to be a living, breathing metaphor like that. Maybe someday, so I'll continue preparing now.
